The Hangout

ABOUT US
The Hangout serves as a safe place for the students to drop in for social-emotional support. The hangout is open from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. A pass is required to drop in during scheduled class time. No pass is needed before school, nutrition, lunch or after school.  

 

WHAT THE HANGOUT PROVIDES

Short term/individual and group counseling

Psychoeducation on mental health 

Community based referrals 

Free hygiene products 

A safe space to hang out/relax, listen to music, play games, socialize or talk to the counselor. 

 

HOW DOES A STUDENT ACCESS THE HANGOUT? 

Students are able to self refer using the Student Referral Google Form

Parents are able to refer the student but using the same Student Referral Google Form or speaking with a staff member. 

Students can be referred through school staff and other students. 

 

THE HANGOUT CAN PROVIDE SUPPORT TO STUDENTS IN MANY SITUATIONS: 

“I get overwhelmed” 

“I feel like I can’t control my emotions”

“I just need to vent to someone” 

“I’m stressed about school” 

“I feel alone at school” 

“I get angry a lot and sometimes can’t control it” 

“I’m having family issues and I am unsure of what is going to happen” 

“I just need someone to talk to”
